Mercy M. James

Statistics indicate that there are over 100,000 Americans who are afflicted with TS (Tourette’s syndrome). This complex neuropsychiatric disorder that is characterized by involuntary vocal tics is of unknown etiology. While the severity of this problem varies widely among patients, research shows that the condition usually improves with age. Currently, there is no cure for Tourette’s syndrome. However, research shows that medical cannabis can help people cope with the symptoms.

Investigators in the Department of Clinical Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Medical School of Hanover in Germany published their findings in the March 1999 issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry. According to their results, in an uncontrolled open clinical trial, a 25 year old male patient afflicted with Tourette’s syndrome was successfully treated with one single 10 mg dose of MMJ. The severity of the vocal tic reduced from as high as forty one to a mere seven within just two hours after cannabinoid therapy.

A review of the experiment conducted shows that there is ample evidence to prove that cannabinoids are effective in the treatment of Tourette’s syndrome. In the test conducted, the condition of the patient dramatically improved and this effect lasted for about seven hours in a single session. This kind of scientific literature regarding several clinical trials now confirms the subjective experiences of patients who smoked marijuana using a reliable and valid rating scale for the first time. In a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled experiment, a single trial dose of medical marijuana was administered to a dozen adult patients afflicted with Tourette’s syndrome.

The preliminary results presented by the researches again confirmed that there was an incredible improvement in the OCB (obsessive compulsive behavior) and involuntary vocal tics after delta 9 THC treatment when compared to the placebo. Furthermore, investigators concluded that not only was medical marijuana safe and effective in treating these symptoms of TS but also the test subjects did not report any cognitive impairment after it was administered to them.

The same results were again observed in a second randomized, placebo-controlled, randomized trial that involved twenty four patients this time. These patients were administered doses of ten mg of Medical cannabis on a daily basis over a period of six weeks. All the test subjects suffered no damaging effects on their verbal memory, recall, or learning. In fact, they experienced a drastic reduction in the tics that are characteristic of Tourette’s syndrome. In October 2003, the summary of these findings were published in the journal, The Expert Opinions in Pharmacotherapy.

Mercy M. James

Medical marijuana or MMJ has been used for decades now to help people afflicted with serious medical conditions that include, but are not limited to glaucoma, cancer, epilepsy, AIDS, and MS (Multiple Sclerosis). As one of the most effective agents that help people cope with chronic pain, medical marijuana offers patients relief from extreme discomfort by alleviating their symptoms.

Understanding the science behind the effectiveness of marijuana is important in order to dispel these myths and make a well informed choice about what it truly offers. When administered under the supervision of a qualified and competent doctor or medical practitioner, medical marijuana reduces the pain and nausea that various health problems cause. Scores of people believe that medical marijuana is extremely addictive and it increases the dependency on the drug.

Research indicates that there is no evidence to support this belief because to start with, medical cannabis does not even have any chemicals that may trigger addiction in people who use it as a part of their treatment process. Then there are other misconceptions that MMJ may also lead to the use of hard drugs such as cocaine and like the former, this is also just a misconception. While medical marijuana can be smoked, this is not the only way that it can be used.

Right from prescription drugs and pills that contain synthetic forms of medical marijuana to other alternate treatment methods, cannabinoids such as THC can be delivered to the body without smoking MMJ. The flowers and leaves can be soaked in a mixture of alcohol to extract the cannabinoids in marijuana. This infusion can either be added to drinks and food or absorbed through skin patches and in this form; it takes MMJ as little as a half hour to produce the desired effect. The active components can also be transferred into cooking oil and butter by simmering the plant in them for several hours. This is usually used to bake cookies and brownies or make other types of food that a patient might find appetizing.

Though there are tests that show that Medical cannabis can cause short term memory loss in some patients who are undergoing treatment, the truth is that the effect is only temporary. Medical marijuana neither reduces their intelligence nor does it affect their long term memory. Though medical cannabis is an all-natural substance that is obtained from plants, the misconceptions about it are quite controversial and baseless.

by Mercy J. James

Medical cannabis is generally smoked by using any one of the different accessories such as cigar like blunts (cannabis, not tobacco, is put into the filler), bongs, water pipes, joints (lightly rolled cigarettes) and pipes. However, that is not the only way you can get the benefit of medical marijuana. In fact, you may not realize it; but Denver marijuana can be ingested as well. And, ingesting it keeps the body from inhaling the tar and carcinogenic chemicals that are harmful to it. Read on as Denver Medical Marijuana Dispensary Kind Love shares some healthy alternatives to smoking MMJ.

Medical cannabis that has been smoked leads to a tremendous loss of THC and other cannabinoids because of the decomposition that occurs at the high temperatures. When ingested, however, there are more constituents (active ingredients) entering the body. Ingesting the marijuana is a much healthier option both for recreational and medicinal purposes. Of course, the disadvantage to it is that you need a significant amount of Denver medical marijuana to boost the effectiveness. That means you have to spend more money, which, when you look at it, isn’t very cost-effective. However, what people end up getting is medical marijuana that’s longer lasting and stronger. According to any Denver medical marijuana dispensary, people can ingest the marijuana several ways using either a solid or liquid base mixture. Plant fibers and THC found in the bud are absorbable by the digestive system. However, these things can’t be released until it binds to fatty acid or alcohol and become a fat soluble component. Liquids such as lemonade, grain alcohol, soda and water can be used.

Denver marijuana dispensaries claim there are quite a few ways a person can ingest the cannabis including using a mixture that can be in either a solid or liquid base form. The digestive system can absorb plant fibers and THC from the bud. It is important to understand that it won’t be released until it is bound to fatty acid or alcohol as a fat soluble element. People can use liquids like grain alcohol, soda, lemonade and water.

Cannabis tea can be made by brewing MMJ and tea leaves together, which can be mildly psychoactive. However, water-based infusions are not that effective since THC’s water solubility is low because of the lipophilic nature. Solid things that cannabis can be cooked with include fat, lard, oil and butter. There are all kinds of foods that can have marijuana cooked into it such as browns, hash browns, pancakes and cookies.

Flame filters and vaporization pipes make up the cannabis vaporizers. Thus, when MMJ is warmed up, the active ingredients of it will evaporate. This does not happen when Denver medical marijuana is smoked. The vaporizer’s design will determine the amount of carbon monoxide and toxic chemicals found in the Denver marijuana. One new cannabis product consists of flavored medicated suckers, which have high-quality CBD, CBN and THC and have hash oil and ethanol extracts. These things have over 30mg of THC and at least 7mg of CBD.

Colorado recently passed legislation legalizing the usage of Denver Medical Marijuana for patients who need it.
by Mercy J. James

The chemical components found in or medical marijuana have a large role in the Complementary and Alternative Medicine area. Medical marijuana is commonly called medical cannabis; it’s been in use for its medical benefits on the body’s immune and central nervous systems. It was recently found that medical marijuana has anti-cancer properties and has the capacity to assist the body in coping with side effects of the disease along with the treatment process with the activation of specific receptors in the body.

Cannabidiol, which makes up 75 percent of the cannabinoids, has a variety of medical properties in several rare cannabis strains in its modified cannabinoid and non-psychtropic forms. It has low psychoactive properties and can lessen THC’s psychoactive effects by disintegrating it. All of its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-spasmodic and analgesic properties are highly known.

Cannabis contains Cannabigerol, which is a precursor form of other kinds of cannabinoids such as CBD and THC especially when talking about hemp and medical marijuana varieties. It’s a bone and contains properties of both anti-proliferative and antibacterial stimulant.

Cannabis contains both Tetrahydrocannabivarin and THC. There is an abundant of medical benefits with THC including appetite reduction. As dosage increases, it resists these medical properties. There is a copious amount of THCV-based pharmaceuticals being tested on humans to tackle both Type 2 diabetes and obesity.

Cannabichromene is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that’s got properties similar to Tetrahydrocannabivarin. It’s found in cannabis and is popular for its various analgesic, anti-microbial, anti-proliferative and anti-inflammatory properties as well as the promoting the growth of bones and the constriction of blood vessels.

There are several principal compounds in marijuana, one being Tetrahydrocannabinol. And, THC (which is the short form for Tetrahydrocannabinol) is naturally occurring in the acidic form THC-A and cannot be easily absorbed by the body. However, if it’s heated, it changes into something more absorbance with a significant medical benefits.

Tetrahydrocannabinol and Cannabidiol have many helpful properties such as neuro-protective, anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative, anti-cancer, etc. On top of those, cannabidiol is a bone stimulant and contains antibacterial, anti-ischemic, anti-psychotic, anti-psoriatic and anti-diabetic properties. Tetrahydrocannabinol also has a tendency to improve appetite, reduce pressure on the intraocular eye, protect nerves from harm and encourage nerve tissue growth. When you’re tired of hurting, a Denver dispensary can fill your medical marijuana prescription.

New Research Shows Medical Cannabis Can Help With Diabetes Mellitus

According to numerous studies published recently, medical cannabis holds great promise as a possible treatment for glaucoma. Statistics collected by the National Society for Prevention of Blindness indicate that more than four million Americans are afflicted with the eye disease glaucoma with 178,000 new cases of glaucoma being diagnosed each year. It is the leading cause of blindness in the United States that is prevalent in all age groups, most often seen in people over the age of 65. Open angle or chronic glaucoma is one of the most common forms of glaucoma that is characterized by an increase in the IOP (intraocular pressure) within the eye that potentially damages the optic nerve if the condition is not treated and controlled effectively.

There are other types of glaucoma such as secondary or narrow angle glaucoma whose primary treatment is through surgery. A combination of oral medications and topical preparations is used to control 90% of the cases of open angle and narrow angle glaucoma. Around 10% of all cases fail to be treated or controlled effectively using the prescription drugs that are available currently.

These glaucoma medications are known to trigger side effects such as insomnia, anxiety, blurred vision, kidney stones, headaches, a burning sensation of the eyes, headaches, nervous anxiety, and cardiac arrhythmias that results in patients discontinuing their use. Principal investigator in controlled studies at UCLA, Dr. Robert Hepler, reported that compared to conventional medications, medical marijuana was more effective in reducing eye pressure. On an average, patients who smoked MMJ experienced a 30% decrease in eye pressure depending on the dose and the effect lasted at least four to five hours.

Medical cannabis could eliminate the requirement for surgical intervention that costs Americans an estimated USD 8.8 million annually. A pharmaceutical company in the West Indies has developed eye drops containing synthetic marijuana. However, this is currently not available in the United States. Several other pharmaceutical companies are currently investigating drugs that possess a chemical similarity to the various psychoactive ingredients in cannabis that might have possible glaucoma applications.

Currently, the only marijuana that has been approved for medical use at the federal level is a synthetic form of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the most active component of marijuana called Marinol. Manufactured in a capsule form, it can be taken orally and was initially developed as an antiemetic in chemotherapy treatments. Natural marijuana consistently decreases IOP as synthetic THC is effective for only a short period of time.

There are currently 16 states that have laws allowing the purchase and possession of Medical Marijuana for use in treatment of disease. According to medical research medical cannabis is effect for relief of glaucoma symptoms. It is recommended to check with government agencies in your state regarding legality of medical marijuana use in your area.

Mercy M. James

Research conducted on the safety of medical marijuana vs. the safety of 17 drugs that were approved by the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) based on the number of deaths caused showed that medical cannabis was the secondary suspect in 279 deaths as against 1,679 deaths where FDA-approved drugs were the secondary suspect. While medical marijuana or MMJ was never reported as the primary suspect, the total number of cases in which the 17 FDA-approved drugs seemed to be the culprit was as high as 10,008. All the statistics and data were collected over a period of 8 years from January 1, 1997 to June 30th, 2005. The total number of death recorded in this period that were caused due to medical marijuana was astonishingly low (279) when compared with those caused by the FDA-approved drugs (11,687).

Of the 17 FDA-approved drugs that were chosen for this study, twelve of them were selected as they are commonly prescribed instead of medical marijuana. The other five FDA-approved drugs were randomly chosen as these are widely recognized and used by the general public. These 17 drugs included a mix of anti-emetics (drugs that are used to treat vomiting), antispasmodics (drugs that are used to treat muscle spasms), antipsychotics (drugs that are used to tract psychosis), and other popular drugs that are commonly used for treating Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), depression, narcolepsy, erectile dysfunction, and pain.

The number of deaths recorded due to the use of each drug was manually counted as the information supplied by the FDA included all the adverse events of which only a portion included deaths. A copy of the adverse events, these being defined as incidents where the use of drugs of any dosage including medical devices such as in vitro diagnostics or medical food, infant formula, dietary supplements, and other special nutritional products are suspected to have triggered an adverse outcome in a patient was also submitted.

The information was collected from five printed reports and 12 CDs with copies of the AERS (Adverse Event Reporting System) report for each and every drug that was a part of this study. A review of these AERS reports supplied by the FDA revealed that there were some deaths where medical marijuana was also a used at the time of death. This lead to more investigation regarding the use of medical cannabis, and cannabinoids as concomitant drugs in reported deaths.

Medical Marijuana Dispensaries in Denver Co provide a valuable service to many people. The use of medical cannabis for various medical conditions is becoming more common. More and more medical professionals have started to realize the advantages of this medication.

Many people suffer a great deal with eye problems like glaucoma. Studies as far back as the 1970s show that the THC in marijuana reduces pressure within the eye. Glaucoma is characterized by increased intraocular pressure. Over time, this pressure can damage the optic nerve and eventually cause blindness. There are many kinds of glaucoma that affect a lot of people.

In the United States, over two million people over the age of forty are suffering from open angle glaucoma. This is the most common type, and half of these people have no idea that they have this disease. This information comes from Prevent Blindness America. It is important to have regular eye examinations, as this can detect the presence of glaucoma. The sooner you have medical care, the better chances you have for success.

Another benefit of cannabis for glaucoma is eliminating side effects. Some medication can cause additional problems and medical concerns. For example, headaches and nausea may accompany standard glaucoma treatments. It is also possible to suffer with blurred vision and anxiety. These things are not likely to occur with THC treatment.

THC or cannabis can be effective for many things besides glaucoma. For example, many people suffer with weight loss and loss of appetite when they undergo cancer treatment like chemotherapy. They also suffer with nausea and vomiting. THC helps many of these people with stomach upsets and allows them to eat and gain weight. Medical Marijuana can provide those undergoing cancer treatment with more comfort.

Many people taking cannabis report that pain is lessened a great deal. In fact, it can be beneficial for people with muscular or neurological pain from conditions like multiple sclerosis. It also may help with tremors and spasticity in some people. With some kinds of pain, medical cannabis can be as effective as opioid medication, and there is much lower risk of physical addiction.

The need for cannabis as medication is increasing, as it becomes legal in more states. Thanks to medical marijuana dispensaries in Colorado, high quality cannabis products are available to patients with a legal prescription. For those that do not wish to smoke cannabis, there are food and beverage products available, and well as lotions. When you visit one of these medicinal dispensaries, you can have a consultation to determine the best product for your needs.

To make a long story short, there is an increased need for medical marijuana, and medicinal dispensaries marijuana Denver CO such as Kind Love are supplying an important service. Medical Cannabis can be effective for a number of medical problems including glaucoma, nausea, loss of appetite, and muscle pain and discomfort. The Medical Cannabis that you receive at Kind Love is high grade and guaranteed to be potent. Kind Love is Denver dispensary that is registered with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

The recent deaths of internationally acclaimed celebrities like Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson raises questions regarding the use of prescription drugs. Doctors, physicians, and medical practitioners prescribe antidepressants, sleeping pills painkillers, and tranquilizers without batting an eyelid. People are starting to wonder if these toxic chemicals are really needed by the body and why the disastrous effects of combining medications like sleeping pills and painkillers are never explained clearly to them. These innocent looking bottles of pills have become a death threat and some of them include some of the most commonly used painkillers and sleeping aids as well as other prescription narcotic painkillers. More and more studies are showing Medical Marijuana to be a safe alternative.

Recent studies indicate that some of these drugs are the leading causes of acute liver failure and liver damage with many as 1600 cases are reported annually. Though the drug is deemed safe as long as the recommended daily allowance (RDA) levels are maintained, people often end up taking twice or even thrice the maximum prescribed dosage. This happens because the same active ingredient is present in plenty of different types of medication, which leads to an overdose.

Pharmaceutical companies are making in millions of dollars due the sales of these narcotic medications and studies show that on an average, these companies spend as much as $150 million per year as a part of their advertising and promotional activities. According to the Journal of the AMA (American Medical Association), prescriptions drugs and medications are the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. A study published in 1998 reported that as many as 2.2 million Americans suffered serious reactions as well as permanent disability due to the adverse effects of these prescribed medications.

106,000 deaths per year have been reported; not from intentional or accidental overdose, but from taking the prescribed dose of these drugs. In spite of these statistics that clearly denote the number of people who have suffered the dire consequences of using antidepressants and other drugs, these are still being prescribed. Have you head of anyone dying from Medical Marijuana?

Medical cannabis is a natural medication that has no side effects associated with it. The 23 deaths due to the use of medical marijuana that were reported over a period of 12 years (from 1979 to 1998) were all due to life-threatening illnesses such as diabetes and cancer. So, rather than MMJ, their illness could have been the primary reason for their death. Marijuana has an excellent safety record and it has been around for over 5000 years.

Denver Dispensary: Research Reveals Medical Marijuana Has Benefits For Alzheimer’s Disease

Most people fear Alzheimer’s disease and, according medical research, medical marijuana can play an integral part in slowing down its progression. To keep neural protein deposits from developing deep inside the brain, Tetrahydrocannibinol (THC) can be effective. It’s because of the neural protein deposits that Alzheimer’s disease afflicts people. Denver, CO. dispensaries supply medical cannabis that have been shown slow development of the protein deposits that end up causing a range of issues including but not limited to: confusion, severe memory loss, irritability, speech problems, mood swings, etc. This disease is progressive and deadly, destroying brain cells that eventually cause a person to suffer with dementia, loss of memory, a diminished intellect, motor and social skills. In the United States, Alzheimer’s disease is listed as a top 10 cause of death among the elderly.
Alzheimer’s disease is a medical condition where a sufferer is slowly losing their memory and intelligence. It cannot be cured, is deadly and affects person 65 years of age and older. Medical cannabis will decrease the development of acetylcholinesterase, a neural enzyme that causes harmful protein deposits to form inside the brain and lowers the amount of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

New brain cells are hindered from developing by four things: alcohol, nicotine, cocaine and heroin. And, according to information from the San Diego-based Scripps Research, medical cannabis has shown that it actually promotes the neuron growth. That’s why medical marijuana is highly regarded as a helpful prescription so long as the distribution is monitored through any number of the Denver dispensaries. There are many prescription medications that hamper brain cell growth. However, medical cannabis from Denver dispensaries has shown real promise to reduce inflammation and tumor growth in clinical trials.
